This Privacy Notice explains how the London Motorcycle Group collects, uses, and protects the personal information you provide when registering as a rider or signing up for events. We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in accordance with applicable data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
The London Motorcycle Group is a community group organising group motorcycle rides and social events across London and the wider UK. The group is administered by Daniel Villanueva and Tristan Thompson, who act as the data controllers for the purposes of this notice.
When you register as a rider, we collect the following personal information:
When you sign up for an individual event, we additionally record your name, phone number, and bike details in relation to that specific event.
When you use the contact form on this website, we collect your name, an optional phone number, and your message. This information is processed by EmailJS (acting as a data processor on our behalf) and delivered to the group administrators by email. It is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is not retained beyond the time needed to do so.
We collect rider registration data to organise and manage safe group motorcycle ride events. Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interests under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f) — specifically, our legitimate interest in coordinating safe group rides and being able to respond effectively in the event of an accident or serious incident. We have assessed that these interests are not overridden by riders’ rights and freedoms, given the safety-critical nature of the data and the minimal, proportionate scope of collection.
Emergency contact details are collected solely for safety and emergency response purposes and will only be used in the event of a serious incident. By providing your emergency contact’s details, you confirm that you have informed them that their name and phone number have been shared with the London Motorcycle Group for this purpose, and that they are aware they may be contacted in an emergency.
Access to your personal data is restricted to the group leader and group administrator. Ride leaders will be provided with relevant rider details (name, phone, bike) for their specific event only, and are required to securely delete this information within 7 days of the event taking place.
We do not share your personal data with any third parties, sell it, or use it for marketing purposes.
Your data is stored for as long as you remain an active member of the London Motorcycle Group. If you leave the group or request deletion, your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of your request.
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, please contact Daniel Villanueva or Tristan Thompson directly, or use the Clear My Data button at the bottom of this page to remove your saved site data from this device.
The London Motorcycle Group processes personal data as described in this notice. If you believe we are required to be registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and have not yet done so, please contact us. You can check registration requirements at ico.org.uk.
For any data protection queries — including requests to access, correct, or delete your data — please contact the group administrators via the Contact form on this website, or directly through the LMG WhatsApp group. We aim to respond to all data requests within 30 days.
